De De Pyaar De 2 Release Date Out: Here’s Who’s Returning to the Sequel

Get ready for another dose of laughter, love, and generational chaos! Finally, the much-awaited sequel to the 2019 hit rom-com De De Pyaar De 2 is set to hit the big screen. The makers have confirmed the theatrical release date, and the star cast is all set to turn the tables on the age-gap romance that won over audiences four years ago.

Mark your calendars: De De Pyaar De 2 will release in theatres on November 14, 2025.

The Returning Power Duo: Ashish and Ayesha

The heart of the original film was the unconventional love story between the 50-something NRI Ashish Mehra and the much younger Ayesha Khurana. Returning to continue their journey, fans will be delighted to know the main couple is back.

  • Ajay Devgn as Ashish Mehra: The star of ‘Singham’ returns to play the charming but oft-awkward Ashish. While the first film had Ashish struggling for approval at the hands of his own estranged family, the tables are completely turned in the sequel, placing him at the receiving end of family scrutiny.
  • Rakul Preet Singh as Ayesha Khurana: Rakul Preet Singh reprises her role with her signature breezy and spirited energy. Ayesha now has the tough job of mediating between her partner and her fiercely protective family, especially her father.

What really worked in the original was the lead pair’s on-screen chemistry, and seeing them navigate the new challenges of love and family acceptance is what makes the sequel so highly anticipated.

The New Face of Opposition: Enter R. Madhavan

If the first film had Tabu as Ashish’s ex-wife, Manju, who somewhat reluctantly helped him, the second installment introduces a new—and formidable—barrier. The inimitable R. Madhavan enters the fray as Rajji Khurana, Ayesha’s protective father.

The casting is a stroke of genius, creating a dynamic that promises double the fun and double the tension. Key plot point? Ashish, significantly older than Ayesha, now has to deal with a father-in-law, Rajji, closer to Ashish’s age than his daughter’s. This age-based rivalry and the resultant comic one-upmanship between Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan are expected to be the central conflict and the biggest source of laughter.

Madhavan has even said that his character will engage in a witty “battle for love and parental acceptance” with Ashish, with the drama escalating into a hilarious clash between generational pride and modern romance.

Who Else is Returning to the Chaos?

While the plot of the sequel veers off in a different direction from that of the original, meaning Tabu won’t be back, some other familiar faces and some key new additions have been confirmed to round out the cast:

  • Jaaved Jaaferi: As Ashish’s comic confidant, he returns, adding his much-needed brand of humour and support.
  • Gautami Kapoor: Mrs. Khurana, Ayesha’s mother, joins the cast to cancel out Madhavan’s intensity.
  • Meezaan Jafri: A new addition to the cast with a reported character planted by Ayesha’s parents as a new rival to Ashish, threatening their relationship.
  • The cast includes Ishita Dutta, who is well-known for playing Ajay Devgn’s daughter in the Drishyam franchise, in an important role.

The Team Behind the Sequel

The sequel has been directed by Anshul Sharma, while the script is co-written by Luv Ranjan-who has also been associated with a similar kind of filmmaking ethos in films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, along with Tarun Jain. They ensured a heady mix of glossy entertainment, razor-sharp dialogue, and even a surprising layer of emotional depth that defined the first.

With a release date of November 14, 2025, De De Pyaar De 2 is set to be the ideal family entertainer this festival season. The film is a comedy of manners that asks an important question: If love defies age, can families ever keep up? The answer is what the movie is all about.
