War 2 Weekend Box Office Collection – Smashing Records Worldwide
Weekend box office figures are in, and Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR’s War 2 has left its print, establishing itself as a serious contender in the global box office battle. The spy film, a central part of the YRF Spy Universe, has performed strongly in its first four days, despite facing intense competition from Rajinikanth’s Coolie.
A Strong Start for the Spy Saga
Released on Thursday, August 14, to capitalize on the Independence Day long weekend, War 2 had a strong start. The film opened with a commendable ₹52 crore (all languages) on Day 1. It saw a massive surge on August 15, Day 2, thanks to the Independence Day holiday, collecting a staggering ₹57.35 crore. This brought its two-day total to over ₹100 crore, showcasing its immense appeal.
Nevertheless, the movie dropped sharply at the weekend, making ₹33.25 crore on Saturday and an estimated ₹31 crore on Sunday. Even with this decline, the overall domestic total of the movie for its first four-day extended weekend is a respectable ₹173.60 crore. Though this number is high, it is less than some of the highest-grossing blockbusters of the year.
Worldwide Domination
Globally, War 2 has been a blockbuster. The worldwide total box office collection of the film has already exceeded the ₹268 crore mark within four days. It has already taken over the lifetime collections of most big movies of 2025, such as Raid 2 and Sitaare Zameen Par. The film is now ready to join the super league of top-grossing Indian movies of the year, with sights on the ₹300 crore mark.
Its overseas performance has been awe-inspiring, and it has collected an estimated ₹60 crore. It goes to show how popular the YRF Spy Universe is worldwide and the combined star power of Jr. NTR and Hrithik Roshan.
The War with Coolie
The box office war between Coolie and War 2 has generated a lot of debate. Though War 2 has fought tooth and nail, it has been lagging behind Rajinikanth’s action movie in both local as well as global collections. Coolie has been able to take a comfortable lead, particularly in the South Indian circuits and overseas, where Rajinikanth’s stardom is unmatched. The total collections of both these films, however, have ensured that this Independence Day weekend was one of the biggest ever in Indian cinema.

The Verdict on War 2
War 2 received mixed reactions from both the audience and critics alike. While its action sequences, glamorous photography, and Hrithik Jr. NTR face-off have garnered a lot of appreciation, many felt that the plot was predictable and the story was uninspiring. The box office performance of the film in the Hindi belt registered a big jump on the Independence Day holiday, but did not sustain the same over the weekend. Likewise, the Telugu version, opening to a colossal amount due to Jr. NTR, witnessed a huge dip in collections.
War 2 Cast
Despite such varied reviews and the decline in weekend collections, War 2 has turned out to be a hit for the YRF Spy Universe. The film’s strong opening and good worldwide collections have given it a good platform for its theatrical performance. The actual test for the film, though, will come when it performs during the weekdays, as it has to ensure consistent collections to cross the ₹300-400 crore club.
